1972 Airstream Overlander 27’

The description of this Airstream from the original manual:
The Airstream travel trailer earned its reputation of being the lightest, strongest, easiest-towing travel trailer in the world. The Airstream body begins with a special heat-treated aluminum alloy. In 1972 Airstream was the only travel trailer manufacturer using this special load bearing aluminum. It looks the same as ordinary aluminum, however it has many times the tensile strength of common aluminum. It has a remarkable strength -to-weight ratio and it has a superior resistance to fatigue. This super strong aluminum is stretch formed and then assembled in special jigs that maintain precision tolerances. As the aluminum alloy is stretched it becomes stronger due to the molecular rearrangement of the metal itself. This is why the entire Airstream fuselage is self-supporting, yet the entire outside shell of a 31-foot Airstream only weighs 633 pounds.

This 27’ Airstream maintains its original interior components and layout. Majority of the systems have been updated see updates list below.

The highly sought after Twin Bed interior configuration includes a rear bath with tub/shower, original shower door, toilet, sink and storage. The center sleeping space has two pillowtop twin beds, overhead and underbed storage.

The Kitchen includes a 4-burner propane cooktop, over the stove exhaust fan, double sink (with sink covers), microwave, closet, pantry, plenty of overhead and cabinet storage, pull out and flip top additional worksurfaces and original working refrigerator with freezer. (Both propane and electric options work)

The front sitting area is outfitted with vista view windows, a gaucho sofa, fold down table, two folding chairs, TV and Original Airstream control center, original AM/FM working radio and 4 updated interior speakers.

The exterior has new Goodyear D Load Range D tires, recently serviced wheel bearings, electric brakes, and mirror hubcaps. Spare Tire with rim and original Airstream mount located under the front dining area and is accessible from the exterior.

This Overlander also has an updated Dometic Awning, with protective metal cover, that spans the majority of the Airstream. A medium polished Aluminum exterior shell that is bright & shiny. All windows and 3 roof vents are in working order.
