We give you “Essie” our 1975 Landyacht Airstream, 31 foot trailer. This trailer has quite the story that starts in the middle of nowhere Salmon, Idaho. My wife and I picked this trailer up in a sad state with the intention of a full renovation to be used as a glamping/guest house for friends and family in Idaho.
We gutted the trailer down to its shell and Airstream of Salt Lake City de-rivited the shell and redid the trailer, bellypan, subfloor, new axles, trailer brakes and grey water tank. Once we received the solid platform to build off of we employed Mountain Modern Airstream out of Bend, Oregon, https://www.mtnmodernairstream.com/ to design and build out a totally modern interior. We wanted it to be a cozy hideaway for our family, friends, kids, and our parents. Mountain Modern designed and fabricated the entire inside, new electrical, insulation, new interior skins with custom end caps, custom cabinets and counters. 3, New Fantastic Fans to move air and keep things cool. New rubber all the way around, new spare. E2 Roundbar Anti-sway hitch, usb plugins throughout, touch lights in the kids bunk beds. Lots of storage, broom closet, clothes closet. Spacious shower with stainless shower pan. Custom Butcher block countertops with Stainless sink. New Fridge and Microwave. New Propane tanks and regulator, and electric hitch jack. Zamp Portable Solar panel. Tankless Precision Temp water heater, suburban furnace and Dometic A/C.
There is really too much to list here, but basically it is beautifully modern and functional with butcher block counter tops, bunk beds, office space, full bed pull out up front, foldaway table up front, portable solar, tankless water heater, James Bond TV lift, inverter and new A/C. To get a feel for the inside, go to Mountain Modern Airstream and under projects click on “Essie” and you can see how stunning this trailer is. Now that we are back in TX we no longer have a great spot for Essie and its time for her to go to a new home. This trailer would make a great hideaway getaway if you have a bit of land or a lot near a lake. It could also make a unique Airbnb or rental if you wanted to commercialize its awesomeness. Or it can be really nice overflow housing for when friends come to visit. Please shoot me an email if you want full details on all the systems and the designs. We spent about 3 years in total getting Essie to where she is now and we are looking forward to seeing our Essie find a new home and a new family to adventure with.
