Very rare 1977 Argosy by Airstream 20 foot motorhome. They were only produced from 1974 to 1978 and were Airstream’s first venture into the motorhome market. They were called the painted Airstreams but are identical to the polished model trailers and RVs with their all aluminum, aircraft quality construction (except for the steel end caps on the roof} that is the best around. You never have to worry about roof leaks like on normal campers.
Any Argosy is rare but the 20 footers are almost impossible to find. They only produced about 200 of them total and they are the smallest Class A Airstream ever made. It is extremely easy to drive, can park in a normal parking space, you can even make a U-turn at a stoplight!
Walking into this RV is like walking into a light and bright home. It has plenty of light with all of the windows and sun shades. If you want the Van life but are tired of cracking your head on low ceilings, having little room for anything, and having to take a shower outside while parked next to the 8000 other generic Sprinter Vans anywhere you go, you will realize how advanced Airstream was in the planning of these. You can stand up straight with plenty of extra head room, sit on your full size couch that folds into a bed and take a shower in the bathroom in the back that also has the toilet and sink. New refrigerator/freezer, three burner stovetop w/overhead fan, oven, two pot sink, working Onan generator, roof air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, and fully upgraded suspension for a smooth ride. It has plenty of closet storage and even more storage above the couch area with roll up Tambour doors. Shower, bath sink, and toilet are all recently repaired and operational. Just about everything works as it should.
This Argosy runs and drives well. It is very smooth and strong. The engine was fully rebuilt and has only 28,000 miles. All six tires are newer and have low miles.
The interior is original and needs some cosmetic work done. The vehicle still has the original paint scheme. This is a rare one of a kind for a true Airstream aficionado… I even have the original booklets!
I have some good videos that showcase the interior… reach out for more details. Thanks!
