This 1977 Airstream Argosy Minuet has undergone some renovation and is fitted with custom features. The original dinette has been replaced with a custom oak tabletop that drops to form a twin bed. All new cushions and a custom, autographed mural of an Arizona desert scene create a unique front bedroom. There’s also a gaucho that converts into a bed opposite the kitchen. The kitchen counter is made from an antique drafting table and sports a new catering sink with an upgraded faucet. The original stove is fully functional and has been repainted with a high heat-rated metallic paint to provide additional character. A newer refrigerator, cabinets, and slide-out shelf further enhance the kitchen. The bathroom includes an antique corner sink, tiled surfaces, a new toilet, shower fixtures, and a privacy window.
The water system has been completely replaced with PEX plumbing and the original water heater has been replaced with an instant-on model. The heating system has also been upgraded. The resistance heater has been removed, and the furnace has been replaced with a heat pump. The electrical system has been upgraded with a newer AC to DC converter, Lithium Phosphate batteries, and an updated shore power cord and connector.
Other recent renovations include a newer tongue jack, 7-pin blade connector and newer tires and hubs. Some screens have been replaced, and the LP tanks were re-certified in late 2022. At just 2850 pounds, this trailer can be towed by almost any vehicle.
Even with all this renovation there is still more work to be done. The propane lines will need to be replaced from the tanks to the stove. There is also electrical work that needs to be done, including the addition of a second breaker to put the AC/Heater on its own, re-wiring of the marker lights from the 7-way panel. The lithium batteries also did not have a charge controller installed when the previous owner upgraded the old battery. It also shows a bit of wear and tear on the outside and could use a coat of fresh paint and clear coat. Undercarriage needs a bit of patching as well.
When bought, we were expecting a trailer ready to go and are not willing to put the time and effort into it at this point. The trailer would be an excellent opportunity for a DIY’er, or renovator to have a truly unique piece of RV history.
