We’re selling our much beloved 1978 Airstream Ambassador. This is an International Land Yacht trim level with double bed (originally) and rear bathroom. Manufactured at Cerritos, CA plant.

We’ve gutted most of it and rebuilt it to serve as a tiny house on our property. My parents lived in it for three years, my family and I lived in it for four months, and various other tenants over the years. It’s been great!

Main renovations done on trailer:
– Replaced cabinetry with custom wood cabinets, installed wood block counter in kitchen and “living room”
– Installed new laminate flooring
– Replaced kitchen sink, re-plumbed with PEX
– Replaced oven/stove
– Replaced heater/furnace
– Replaced hot water heater (separate plug)
– Replaced air conditioner
– Built in queen bed in head of trailer
– Replaced built-in refrigerator with more traditional house fridge
– Built in couch area mid-trailer, we set up a TV in cabinet opposite
– Replaced RV toilet with traditional house toilet
– Tiled bathroom floor with white square tiles
– Repainted interior walls beside bathroom

We direct connected to our septic system for most of our time with the trailer, so we didn’t use the tanks much until we moved into it. Since the house toilet uses more water than a RV toilet, the time between dumps might be shorter. For reference, with my wife and I and our daughter living in the tailer, we’d empty the tanks every couple days.

Everything runs off main 30A panel of the trailer with the exception of the water heater and refrigerator, which have their own exterior power plugs.

Overall everything is in good working order, there are some maintenance items I’ll list here. I’ve lowered the asking price with these in mind. The mains breaker needing repair is the only thing I’d say immediately prevents the trailer from being used.

Maintenance items that need varying levels of attention:
– The main 30 A breaker blew while cleaning it and taking these pictures. It was the original breaker and it seems like a common thing to go. Unfortunately, AC power is not working at the moment until that is repaired.
– There is a crack in the vent above the bed and where the RF antenna meets the body (see picture). It can leak a little if there is a heavy rain. We primarily had the trailer under an enclosure (or temporarily a tarp), so it was protected most of the time we’ve had it.
– 12 V light in “living room” area flickers and frequently won’t come on.
– Black tank valve/gate failed. I have an exterior valve which is working well.
– The trailer needs a new queen mattress. The mattress pictured is a double.
– We had it hooked up to shore power continually. The 120VAC to 12 V system is working well. I’d guess new 12V batteries would be needed if you wanted to go off-grid

Due to there being some fix-it items, I’m selling the trailer AS IS.

I’ve tried my best to describe what I know about the condition of the trailer. I’m happy to answer any other questions or snap some additional pictures
