2004 Airstream International CCD Bambi 19’ travel trailer. Original owners. Nonsmoking. No kids. Clear title in hand.
I ordered my unit from Paul Sherry RV (now gone) in Piqua, Ohio. The only option added was a second Fantastic Fan and glad that I did. There have been wonderful adventures with the “LevZepplin.” I hope to find it a good home as we would like to do some traveling via trains, planes and automobile. Wife and I have absolutely loved this trailer, so it is sort of a sad day.
The trailer is 20 years old and has been stored in outdoor facilities 20 miles north of Chicago. No break-ins or vandalism. A bit of cleaning and Walbernizing would do wonders.
Here’s a few details – front to back – so that there are no surprises. Most issues are cosmetic.
Exterior:
• Two (Costco) Interstate SRM Group 24 batteries, new as of May 2023. Batteries are disconnected after each trip to avoid any drain. There is some rust in the battery compartment.
• Hitch latch works fine and 7-way trailer plug in good shape.
• Two 30 lb propane tanks are less than 3 years old and will not need to be re-certified for a while. I replaced auto switchover gas regulator 2 years ago. Regulator checked for correct pressure (11 lbs WC) May 2023.*
• Stainless wrap around protectors are in good shape. The curbside Lexan window protector has some cracking (see photo); whatever hit it, protected the window! Other protectors in good shape.
• One of the letters from the AIRSTREAM logo on front fell off after a brush with low hanging branch; I have the letter.
• I caulked the fan vent windows, antennae, and everything else on roof myself with polyurethane caulk a year ago. Additional caulking/sealing on roof performed May 2023 by service.*
• Air conditioner shroud in good condition.
• AS trailers of this vintage were prone to filiform and this one is no exception. Some edges of exterior aluminum panels show some filiform as do some of the rivets. It has not gotten worse over the years and is supposedly treatable if you are inclined. The license plate light in the rear is rusted but works. Rear storage bumper in good shape. Storage/trunk compartment needs some cleaning and is also in good shape.
• All exterior lighting works.
• Manual Zip-Dee awning is in good shape. I never rolled it up when wet, so pretty clean.
• This unit was equipped with a black tank flush. Ours stopped working over 10 years ago so I have it capped off. We’ve been more than happy using the back- flow method of the Flush King. Much better. Both gray and black dump valves have been kept lubricated, work smoothly and don’t leak.
• Two Goodyear Endurance tires new as of May 2023 from Discount Tire. I keep them covered when stored. I’ll include the covers, as well as four plastic chocks.
• Brakes and bearings replaced in May 2023.*
• All four stabilizers work fine.
• 110v hook up and city water hook up all fine. I’ve taken good care of the 30 amp power cord and also have a 30 amp extension cord.
Interior:
• All plumbing fixtures work fine. I replaced the faucet aerators yearly. Pump works, but has always been noisy, which is a common complaint. Sinks are in good shape, drain well. Fresh water tank good shape.
• 11000 BTU Dometic Penguin Air Conditioner works fine as does the Optional Heat strip. I had a Steele Rubber Industries A/C gasket installed in May 2023* due to a small leak.
• Furnace was serviced in May 2023* – burner head was replaced after 20 years of use! A new LP detector was installed in May 2023.*
• Electric works fine, with all lights working. CD/Radio works. Converter changed out to a three-stage converter a couple of years ago with Progressive Dynamics PD4600 series unit.
• Three burner stove and oven in working order.
• Six-gallon water heater in good shape.
• Unit was pre-wired for solar at factory
• Toilet and sprayer in good shape. Still holds water.
• We have the original Dometic RM2452 Propane/Electric fridge/freezer that works fine on electric, but in the past year has not been cooling on propane. While cooled on propane when being serviced, it is still problematic – or maybe we are not patient enough! There is a pancake cooling fan in the outside compartment behind the fridge that used to run anytime the outside temp was above 68 degrees using either gas or electric but does not seem to cycle on.
• I have the big canvas tote bag that contains all trailer instructions, documents, etc. that I got at time of delivery.
*= All major service handled by Airstream of Chicago/Campers Corner. I have all receipts too.
