2020 Basecamp X
Very unique – We intentionally had the air conditioning removed at purchase in favor of an Airstream moon roof installed by Airstream. For our personal philosophy in keeping with the true spirit of base-camping, off grid boondocking, and adventure camper, we didn’t want to sacrifice the power to run the AC or microwave. The factory solar panels are adequate for everything else. It’s wired for extra solar panels if desired.
The moon roof is quite the game changer. Besides being able to watch the night sky from bed, the interior head room gained is significant. The option of additional daylight when needed is another prime bonus. And, on more than one occasion, have been told the Basecamp looks more aesthetically appeasing from the outside without it. Honestly we have never missed the air conditioning. With the shades drawn and full ventilation it is surprisingly cool in 90 degrees plus. We had the microwave removed. It was replaced with shelving and door.
Please note accessories. All hoses, electrical, and extra connection for turnkey readiness. Fill the water tank and go. Totally appropriate Yeti Basecamp chairs for the perfect match. Airstream Basecamp Visor – too easy not to use -works great. Airstream Basecamp tent – attached tent equates to another room. Plenty of space for another couple on cots or three or four children in sleeping bags. Teak bathroom mat, padded kitchen mat, and tent carpet keep things clean and comfortable. Electric tongue hitch makes life easy.
What’s wrong with it? Horizontal crack on the inside of bathroom door. Hit and run ding on left rear panel. See photos. Stock plastic connection had a drip.
Replaced with a beefier connection, no problems . That is full disclosure. Documentation of Airstram maintenance available.
Why are we selling it? It pains us greatly to part with our Basecamp and lifetime memories. We are only selling it due to financial issues.
